Shah Rukh Khan bags Amitabh Bachchan's role in 'Hum' remake!

 
Mumbai: After we heard that filmmaker Rohit Shetty is planning to rope in Kajol opposite super star Shah Rukh Khan in his next, now we have learnt that his next film will be the remake of Amitabh Bachchan starrer 'Hum'.

Sources said, "Rohit's next film, starring SRK, will be a remake of the 90s hit film, 'Hum' and currently things are being finalized for the same."

"In the film, SRK will be seen playing the role of Amitabh Bachchan, while for the role of Govinda and Rajinikanth filmmaker is looking forward to rope in the Student Of The Year stars Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan," added source. 

Mukul Anand's 'Hum' was one of the biggest hits of the 90's.

Mumbai: Indian television’s most loved standup comedian Kapil Sharma, who is all geared up to mark his Bollywood debut with acclaimed director-duo Abbas-Mustan’s untitled film, is really excited about the project and will start shooting for the film in November this year.

“I will start shooting in November for Abbas-Mustan’s film. The title of the film has not been decided yet,” Kapil told reporters here on Thursday at the music launch of the film ‘Marudhar Maro Ghar’ where he was present to support his friend and colleague, singer Raja Hasan.

Initially, Kapil was scheduled to make his B’wood debut Yash Raj Films’s Bank ‘Chor’, but following some undisclosed circumstances, he has been excluded from the project. 

Currently, Kapil is busy with his widely popular show ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil’. 

Amitabh Bachchan overwhelmed with 15 million followers on Facebook page

 

Mumbai: Bollywood's megastar, Amitabh Bachchan who is nowadays busy with the most popular quiz show 'Kaun Banega Crorepati', might be on cloud nine today as he has made a new record on the social networking site 'Facebook' with the number of his fans crossing the 15 million mark on his fan page.

The 71-year-old actor is yet to break record of Salman Khan who has the highest number of followers (19,143,677) on his Facebook page. Amitabh took to Twitter and thanked his huge list of fans for their love.

He wrote, "15 MILLION ! FaceBook crosses 15 million for me! That is some number considering I only started 686 days ago!"

Recently, Amitabh made his debut on the small screen as an actor with the TV show 'Yudh'.

Pakistani Urdu writer's oeuvre dipped in Indian nostalgia

Unlike his counterpart and celebrated Urdu writer Saadat Hasan Manto, Pakistani writer Intizar Husain's writings have distanced themselves from the gory details of partition and have, in fact, drawn from early memories of his stay in India. A window to his world is an anthology of his short stories that also reek of sorrow of many wasted opportunities. 

Husain, popularly recognised as a living-legend in Pakistan, was not aggressive in his writings when it came to partition. The motifs he picked from this tragedy were of longing and nostalgia that he used repeatedly in his stories. 

A reflection of these sentiments comes across strongly in the anthology "Intizar Husain: The Death of Sheherzad" (Harper Perennial: Rs.299) that is translated from Urdu by Rakhshanda Jalil.

For writer and author Jalil, the most challenging aspect of translating these stories was to keep the colloquial-style flavour of Husain's writings intact.

Is Rohit Shetty remaking Hum with Shah Rukh Khan?

If reports are to be believed, director Rohit Shetty has zeroed in on the script for his next project starring Shah Rukh Khan. And it is Mukul Anand's iconic film Hum starring Amitabh Bachchan.

Shah Rukh had earlier stepped into Big B's shoes in Don. If true, it will be interesting to see how Shah Rukh Khan plays hot-blooded roguish Tiger immortalised by Amitabh Bachchan.
SRK and Rohit Shetty are coming together again after super successful Chennai Express
The buzz is that Shah Rukh will be reprising Amithab Bachchan's role of Tiger, while Kajol will play Jumma (played by Kimi Katkar in Hum). For Govinda and Rajinikanth's characters, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra are being considered.

The script is still being finalised and Rohit is tight lipped about the project.

Mumbai: From quite some time rumors suggesting Bollywood's renowned filmmaker Karan Johar and superstar Shah Rukh Khan's friendship gone kaput, have been flowing in Bollywood. However, the two of them have always denied the reports but recently SRK's zero presence at the bash thrown at KJO's place added fuel to fire.

Reportedly, KJo kept a party at his place for his Bollywood friends and as the bash was for close buddies it was expected that Karan's best chap Shah Rukh will attend it, but surprisingly the star was absent from the event.

While, paparazzi captured all the guests coming into the party, they had to face disappointment on SRK's end as the super star didn't make up to it. In fact, Karan's very close friend Gauri Khan was also missing from the bash.

Since, Karan invited Salman Khan on the curtain raiser episode of his chat show "Koffee With Karan" it was reported that SRK and KJo's friendship has hit a road block. While, Karan has cleared the rumors by calling him his best chap but SRK has always chose to keep mum on the issue.

The bash was attended by Hrithik Rshan, Aamir Khan-Kiran Rao, Sonam Kapoor, Siddharth Roy Kapur- Vidya Balan, Alia Bhatt, Jacqueline Fernandez, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sanjay Kapoor and wife Maheep and Karisma Kapoor.

Gold extends gains on seasonal buying, global cues



New Delhi:  Gold prices extended gains for the second day by adding Rs 50 to Rs 30,400 per ten gram in the national capital on Monday on sustained buying amid a firming Asian trend.


Silver also inched up by Rs 10 to Rs 43,610 per kg on scattered enquiries from industrial units.
   
In Mumbai, gold of 99.9 and 99.5 percent purity traded at Rs 30,098 and Rs 29,947 per ten gram, while silver enquired at Rs 44,400 per kg.
   
Traders said sustained marriage season buying and a firming Asian trend, as falling equity markets boosted demand for haven assets, mainly led to rise in gold prices.
   
Gold in Singapore, which normally sets price trend on the domestic front, rose 0.2 percent to USD 1,247.21 an ounce.
  
On the domestic front, gold of 99.9 and 99.5 percent purity advanced by Rs 50 each to Rs 30,400 and Rs 30,200 per ten gram, respectively. It had gained Rs 60 in last trade.

Sovereign, however, lacked necessary support and shed Rs 50 to Rs 25,200 per piece of eight gram.
   
Silver ready inched up by Rs 10 to Rs 43,610 per kg and weekly-based delivery by Rs 35 to Rs 43,335 per kg, while silver coins held steady at Rs 85,000 for buying and Rs 86,000 for selling of 100 pieces.


Happy New Year on next schedule sans SRK

Farah Khan's Happy New Year has begun its next big schedule, but without Shah Rukh Khan. The superstar is recovering from the injury he recently sustained non sets on the sets of the film. The filmmaker took to Twitter to announce the news. "And another big schedule starts of Happy New Year today (Monday)! It's always like a family reunion...and yes am letting Shah Rukh Khan rest today (Monday)," Farah posted on the microblogging site Monday. The film also features Sonu Sood, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Vivan Shah and Deepika Padukone.

Now Tea plantation sector faces land hurdle for expansion



It's not just the manufacturing sector that is facing the land hurdle, the organised tea sector is now grappling with expansion problems on the same count.

Tea requires large tracts of arable high land.

"State governments don't have land to allot so in the last five years, the organised tea sector has not grown,"  additional vice chairman, Indian Tea Association and director, McLeod Russel (India), Azam Monem, said. Moreover, the bushes in the organised sector are 50-70 years.

"The only way forward is replanting and uprooting," Indian Tea Association chairman and Goodricke Group managing director and chief executive officer, A N Singh, said. But that too is a hard decision for proprietors, concede most of the industry representatives, as replantation and rejuvenation would lead to a two to three per cent crop loss.

Does it mean that the industry is headed for a J curve? Industry experts feel that's possible given that the organised sector essentially stands for quality and if it doesn't grow then prices are likely to remain on a high.

The current set of data released by the Tea Board of India could corroborate the basis for this notion. The industry clocked in a record production of 1200 million kg in 2013 as against 1126 million kg in 2012, but average prices during April-December have been flat at Rs 130.39 per kg. Clearly, domestic consumption is on the rise.

"Three sales have been dropped in Kolkata and three are likely to be dropped in Guwahati despite a record production. The year, however, had started with a deficit of 100 million kg," Monem said.

But higher prices may not necessarily translate into higher realisations. The cost is disproportionately high for the organised sector. The organised sector is faced with high social cost, all of which is borne by the industry.

Also, it's not that there is no growth in the industry. The unorganised sector, which doesn't bear social cost, is expanding. The unorganised sector accounts for more than 300 million kg. The sector comprises small tea growers or bought leaf factories that process the tea for the small tea growers.

However, representatives from the organised sector are peeved that the unorganised sector is getting away with without having to pay for bulk of the cost. "Some of them can be hardly called small growers because the producing area could be as high as 500 acres from as small as one acre," an expert said.
