SRK, Salman hug at awards function
It was in July 2013 that estranged superstars Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan stunned critics into silence when they hugged and made up at an Iftaar party in Mumbai. And now, six months after that event, the two actors have hugged each other publicly again, not once, but twice.
Turns out that at the recently held Star Guild Awards on Thursday (January 16) in Mumbai, Salman and SRK didn’t just hug, but interacted at length and shared a few jokes. What’s more, SRK even promoted Salman’s upcoming film, Jai Ho.
It started with Salman, who was hosting the show, complimenting SRK for his film’s success in 2013.
A source present at the ceremony reveals, “As soon as SRK entered the venue and sat in the audience, Salman spotted him. He looked at SRK and congratulated him on the success of Chennai Express (2013) and told him that it’s great that his film has earned crores at the box-office. He jokingly requested him to say something about his own film, Jai Ho, so that it does well too.” The source adds that SRK took the mike and shouted out, “Jai Ho!”.
SRK, Salman at Screen Guild Awards
Shortly after, SRK went on stage twice, to receive two awards and both the times, the duo hugged. In fact, while receiving one of the awards, SRK said, “It feels special to get the award in the company of Salman, one of the greatest entertainers the country has ever seen.”
Interestingly, in a recent discussing his equation with SRK, Salman had said, “I tried my best (to patch up with Shah Rukh) and I still keep trying. I think there is a possibility; there’s a hope that we can still be friends, all of us (including Aamir Khan)....you will know for sure when somebody is in trouble. I pray that nobody is in trouble ever, but God forbid if someone is, I’d be there for them.”

New Delhi, Jan 17: The Aam Aadmi Party's rebel leader Vinod Binny has been sent a showcause notice by the party leadership and has been asked to reply by Saturday 5pm.Vinod Binny had, on Jan 15, revolted against the party leadership, accusing them of wavering from the poll promises. He had said that the AAP had failed to live up to its promises. "AAP manifesto has duped the people," he said.Binny said that the AAP had promised people to waive off electricity bills and provide free water to the people of Delhi. "AAP has very slyly included conditions in the case of providing free water to the people of Delhi," he said.Apart from that, he had also called Kejriwal a 'liar'. Addressing a media conference, Binny said, "From Anna to Kiran Bedi, all have been used by AAP. Now people are being used by the party." "Anyone who tries to raise his or her voice at the AAP meeting is silenced," Binny said. He said that Kejriwal and a handful of his aides are taking everyone for a ride.Binny also demanded that Kejriwal must resign if he can't deliver promises. Later, AAP leaders including Yogendra Yadav said that Binny should have raised his concerns withing the party instead of going to the media. Subsidised LPG quota to be raised to 12: Moily
New Delhi: With Congress party vice
president Rahul Gandhi making a strong pitch for raising LPG cap, Oil Minister
M Veerappa Moily on Friday said the quota of subsidised cooking cylinders will
be hiked to 12 from 9 per household.
"Yes, the cap will be increased," Moily said soon after Gandhi made a demand to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at the AICC session here.
Moily, who till last week had maintained that there was no proposal for raising the quota of subsidised LPG cylinders a household is entitled to in a year, said the decision will be announced after the Cabinet approves of it.
"The Cabinet will take a view (on it) soon," he said.
Oil Ministry officials said they will move a proposal for the consideration of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs or Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs once Moily instructs them to do so.
Gandhi at the AICC session stated that 9 cylinders were not enough for households and there was a need to increase this quota to 12 cylinders of 14.2-kg.
Moily had earlier this week stated that 89.2 per cent of the 15 crore LPG consumers use up to nine cylinders in a year and only 10 per cent have to buy the additional requirement at the market price.
If the quota is raised to 12, about 97 per cent of the LPG consumers would be covered by subsidised LPG, he had said.
Increasing the limit to 12 would result in an additional fuel subsidy burden of Rs 3,300 crore-5,800 crore for the government, officials said.
With a view to cutting its subsidy bill, the government had initially capped the supply of subsidised domestic LPG cylinders to six per household in a year in September 2012.
The annual quota was raised to nine in January 2013.
Consumers who have exhausted their quota have to buy LPG at the market price of Rs 1,258 per cylinder. Subsidised LPG costs Rs 414 per 14.2-kg cylinder in Delhi.
