Alia Bhatt wants to work with Rohit Shetty
After teaming up with the likes of Karan Johar and Imtiaz Ali, Alia Bhatt wants to work with Rohit Shetty, known for churning out hit potboilers such as “Singham” and “Chennai Express”.
After making a start with out and out commercial film “Student of The Year”, Alia turned to Ali and Abhishek Verman for “Highway” and “2 States” respectively and both the films gave her ample opportunity to prove her versatility.
The roles in both the films were as different as chalk and cheese and the 21-year-old passed with flying colours, thanks to her spontaneity, naturalness and ease in front of the camera.
Talking about the choices she makes, Alia said: “I just don’t want to be a love interest in a film, I should have that equal effect. I don’t want to be just standing over there in one frame I can’t do that. That does not mean I don’t want to do commercial films.”
While pursuing meaty roles, she is equally interested in typical commercial cinema.
“I want to do all the commercial films. I want to work with Rohit Shetty… (Okay with) full comedy and action, but a good role,” Alia told reporters in a group interview.
Alia watches all the films of her competitors.
“Yes, I do watch all the films of my competitors, but not because I am competing with them. I like watching films. I am a moviegoer, so I make it a point to watch all the films.”
Her contemporaries and competitors are Parineeti Chopra and Shraddha Kapoor.
After three hits, Alia is busy promoting “Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania” (HSKD).
“HSKD is an out and out love story. The last love story was ‘Jab We Met’. There has been many romantic-comedy, but not a typical love story whereas ‘HSDK’ is all an all love story and in a modern way fits in 2014 idea of love rather than what was 15 years ago.”
Directed by Shashank Khaitan, “Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania” has Alia romancing Varun Dhawan. It hits the screens July 11

Cyber crimes rise sharply
BHUBANESWAR: Not only crime against women, the state witnessed a sharp rise in cases relating to cyber crime in 2013, if the latest finding of National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) is any indication.
While only 27 cyber crime cases (both under IT Act and IPC) were registered in the state in 2012, it jumped to 104 in 2013.
Maximum of 33 cases are related to hacking, which have been divided into two sections. Under the first section, loss and damage to computer resource and utility, 29 cases were filed. The remaining four cases come under 'hacking for other purposes', the NCRB report said.
While 12 cases were registered for 'tampering computer source document', three cases were reported for 'obscene publication and transmission'. Eleven cases were filed for making 'fraud digital signature' and 33 cases registered for alleged forgery, which came under IPC.
In 15 cases, the motive of the crime was learnt to be 'revenge'. It assumes significance as the Crime Branch (CB) on April 18, 2013, arrested a tech-savvy youth for allegedly circulating morphed and vulgar photos of former school and mass education minister Rabi Narayan Nanda on internet. The accused Siddharth Sankar Pati, 29, misused face of a girl (seen in obscene act with Nanda in the photo) for taking 'revenge' on her father, who is an astrologer. The astrologer had advised Pati's father to enrol his son in science stream in Plus II and predicted that he would perform well in examination. But, Pati flunked the test.
Altogether 62 persons, including 23 students and a foreign national, were arrested in connection with different cyber crimes in the state last year.
Though the state has only one cyber police station, which functions under the CB, police in other districts too register cyber cases. "Registration of more cases does not mean the crime rate has increased. We encourage people to lodge their complaints. We have successfully cracked almost all cyber complaints," ADG (CB) B K Sharma said.
Recently an IT firm released a survey report, highlighting vulnerability of smaller and emerging cities like Bhubaneswar, Surat, Kochi, Jaipur, Visakhapatnam and Indore to cyber attacks. The firm attributed the threat to lack of awareness and low adoption of security measures by government as well as private sector organizations.
To check cyber terrorism, the state government recently formed a crisis management group, headed by home secretary. The ADG (CB) was designated chief information security officer (CISO) of the state. The responsibility o CISO will be to coordinate security policy compliance measures for the state government and report to CERT-In (Indian Computer Emergency Response Team), a Central organization mandated with IT security in the country.

First suspected leptospirosis case reported in Surat
SURAT: A suspected leptospirosis case has been reported in Pandesara area of the city. It is first case of the deadly disease to have been reported during this season and that too before the monsoon has set in properly. Normally, leptospirosis cases are reported across south Gujarat only after the area has been lashed by heavy rains. The suspected patient is currently being treated at a private hospital and samples of his blood have been sent to New Civil Hospital (NCH) for tests. "The reports are yet to come, but the patient is under treatment. From clinical symptoms he has been put on medication for leptospirosis," in charge deputy commissioner of health at Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) Hemant Desai said.
"We are trying to find out how he got infected since he does not work in a rural area even though he is a gardener," Desai added.
Every year a large number of suspected leptospirosis cases get reported in south Gujarat of which many succumb to the deadly disease. In 2011, more than 100 patients had died and their number has been declining since then because of interventions at the government level.
