Aamir Khan lodges complaint with Mumbai police

Aamir Khan lodges complaint with Mumbai police
The complaint is against the defamatory campaign against him on facebook.
Bollywood star Aamir Khan has registered a complaint with the Mumbai police in the wake of a defamatory campaign against him on social networking website Facebook. The "malicious messages are wrong and baseless", he has said.

Aamir met Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria and Joint commissioner (law and order) Sadanand Date on March 8. The officials have assured swift investigation and action. The Cyber Cell of the Crime Bureau will investigate the case, said an official statement.

Aamir made his TV debut with Satyamev Jayate in May 2012 and the show, dealing with sensitive social issues like female foeticide, domestic violence and child abuse, received a warm welcome from the TV viewers after it went on air. Some of the episodes dealing with female feticide and malpractices in medical field recorded the highest ratings.

He launched the second season on March 2 with a sensitive issue of rape, and the second episode, beamed Sunday, talked about police force.

It has been alleged in the messages on social networking site facebook.com/AwakIND that when at the end of the show, Aamir asks for donations for Humanity Trust, the money is used for masjid construction assistance and placement assistance for Muslim youth.

Aamir took to his Facebook page and clarified that he is associated with Humanity Trust, Hanspukur, West Bengal, not the other Humanity Trust.

"False and malicious messages are circulating through various electronic media. including WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter and other social media networks, alleging that donations are being sought in my television program Satyamev Jayate Season 2, in relation to an entity by the name of Humanity Trust, which is claimed to be working in the field of Masjid Construction Assistance and placement assistance for Islamic youngsters. This is entirely false," Aamir said in his March 7 post on Aamir Khan.

"I would like to clarify that Satyamev Jayate, in Season 1 was associated with Humanity Trust, Hanspukur, West Bengal, a charitable hospital run by Ajoy Mistry and his mother Subhashini Mistry. Humanity Trust, Hanspukur, West Bengal, is doing excellent work in the field of health care and provides free medical facilities to the poor. More information can be found on their website www.humanityhospital.org and our website - http://www.satyamevjayate.in/every-life-is-precious/humanity-trust.aspx. "

"Please note that Humanity Trust, Hanspukur, has nothing to do with Humanity Trust referred to in the malicious messages. I would like to clarify that all donations sought in SMJ are used and channelized for entirely deserving and secular causes, contrary to the content of the highly mischievous/malicious insinuations in the messages, being circulated by vested and unscrupulous interest."

"These malicious messages are entirely false, wrong and baseless. I categorically deny that SMJ has anything to do with Humanity Trust as stated in the malicious messages or that we have called for donations in the name of the said entity. I urge the members of the public to disregard the said malicious message," he wrote.

He also urged viewers to seek information on all NGOs featured on the show on website - www.satyamevjayate.in.

"Spread the love guys," he wrote.

Skype to be used by prison department to produce under trials in Mumbai court

The Maharashtra Prison department will soon rely on the use of 'Skype' an internet based programme to produce under trials before court in the wake of low police escort personnel availability in the department leading to delay in criminal trials for non-production of accused.
A trial project recently got over at the Arthur road and Taloja prison linking both the Central prisons via Skype. The internet based programme is mainly pegged against the present method of producing under trials on video conferencing, to reduce the high telephone bills which the prison department has to pay to either MTNL or VSNL, for providing telephone lines to be used for the video conferencing.
A state home department official said "The Skype service is cost effective and we already have had a discussion with the National Informatics Centre to work out way to ensure that there is no third party intrusion in the Skype service being used by the department."
The trial project linked between Arthur road prison and Taloja Prison ended in the last week of February. The prison department has been over the years contemplating of using the service of the internet based program for several reasons apart from the high telephone bills.
Arthur road Jail Superintendent, V D Borkule said "Apart from the cost effectiveness, in several parts of the state there is a problem of load shedding and the use of Skype which is an internet based program is an alternative option to tackle and I am in complete support of using of this application."
At the moment 54 prisons and 146 courts are linked through video conferencing facility in the state. In the last three months ending February, 2014, over ten thousand under trials were produced before courts through video conferencing. Approximately the telephone bill of a video conference line is around Rs 15,000 per month. The government will further scrutinize the project and check for its financial viability before complete implementation said the home department official.
The Bombay High Court also last week while hearing public interest litigation suggested to the state to set up special cells attached to the prisons which would exclusively be employed for escorting under trials to prison and would not be burdened with any other bandobast duties.

Actress Sunny Leone, who has been a part of the Mumbai entertainment industry since her 2011 appearance on "Bigg Boss 5", says she hasn't made too many friends in Bollywood yet.

"I don't have lot of friends here. I am too busy and I don't get to socialize much. I just want to rest at times and take a day off after a hectic schedule," Sunny said.

The actress, who will next be seen in horror film "Ragini MMS 2", says she can feel the pressure of carrying the movie on her shoulders.

"There are also other actors in this film. I had not thought about it (the pressure) till the promotions started. But now there is a pressure because everyone is asking me this question," she added.

Directed by Bhushan Patel, "Ragini MMS 2" releases March 21.

Initially Rahman was hesitant of accepting 'Kochadaiiyaan'

Double Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman says he was not confident about working in "Kochadaiiyaan", said to be the country's first performance capture photo-realistic technology 3D animated film. Directed by Soundarya Rajinikanth Ashwin, "Kochadaiiyaan" features superstar Rajinikanth and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles. "In 2010, I was offered an English animated film by DreamWorks to be made using the same technology. But they told me that it will take them five years to complete it. I wondered how I could sustain interest for five years, but I understood the effort that goes into making such films," Rahman, who has composed music for the film, told reporters Sunday at the audio launch of "Kochadaiiyaan". "A year later, Soundarya approached me with 'Kochadaiiyaan', which was to be made using the same technology. She said she will finish the film in one year. Since I knew how much of effort goes into such films, I hesitated, but when I finally started working on the project and I could feel the positive energy and the commitment," he added. Also starring Jackie Shroff, R. Sarath Kumar, Shobana, Nasser, Aadi Pinisetty and Rukmini, "Kochadaiiyaan" is slated to release April 11 worldwide.
"Like how we have Hollywood and Bollywood, I believe this film will open the door for south Indian cinema to create a new industry. I wish them all the luck for the same," he said.
