ABCD 2' an ode to Indian dancers: Varun Dhawan

Mumbai, Aug 31: Varun Dhawan, who has started shooting for Remo D'Souza's "ABCD 2", says the film is dedicated to dancers across the country.
The youngster who flaunted his dancing skills in movies like "Student of the Year" and "Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania", is ready to wow his fans again.
“Since I was a little boy I've had a passion for dancing. Today (Sunday) I start#abcd2 as an ode to dancers across India (sic),” he tweeted Sunday.
For “ABCD 2", he has teamed up with Shraddha Kapoor, who had earlier called him a “fantastic dancer” and that she was nervous to match dance steps with him.
“ABCD 2" is a sequel to 2013 dance film "ABCD: Anybody Can Dance

Akshay Kumar doesn't find it tough to do four films a year

Mumbai: Akshay Kumar has revealed that he does not find it difficult to do three-four films a year and at the same time can easily find time for family.
"I have been doing this since 24 years, I don't think why I should stop it. I don't find difficulty. I work eight hours a day. I take maximum holidays in film industry and manage to do three-four films a year and release it. A lot of time I have been asked about gap between my films. A film takes approximately 60 days, then for four films it takes 240 days. There are 365 days in a year so there are remaining 125 days to holiday," Akshay said.
This year so far Akshay had two releases - 'Holiday' and 'Entertainment'. His film 'Shaukeen' will be releasing in November. His other upcoming releases include 'Gabbar', 'Baby', 'Singh Is Bling', 'Brothers' and 'Airlift'.
Despite doing multiple projects at a time, Akshay, 46, consciously tries to work in different kind of movies. "I love to juggle between various genres. I love the fact that I can do all the genres and it makes me very happy that people accept me in films like 'Oh My God', 'Special 26', 'Holiday', ' Entertainment'," Akshay said.
"It is not necessary to keep switching to various genres to survive in the industry as there are actors who are working on one or two genres and are surviving in the industry. I think it is a personal choice," he said.
"When I joined film industry, I started with action films, but then after sometime I was bored seeing myself doing the same stuff. When I am bored then others will also get bored.
So I switched to romance, comedy and did negative roles. I try to do different stuff to entertain people," he said.
Akshay's last two films - 'Holiday' and 'Entertainment' - have managed to get good response both from the critics and audience. But he thinks film critics should write review of a movie two-three days after its release. "As you are writing about a film, so you should know about filmmaking... Lot of people write it down the way they want to. We will get right perspective (on reviews) through a person who knows about film-making. It is important to give right angle to audience. It should happen (like the way it is in Hollywood)," Akshay said.
"It is very nice in Hollywood where you are allowed to talk about the film on Monday, till then let the film breathe on its own. Stop telling people what the film is about... Write about the film on Monday after talking to audience, get their reaction. In South, there is no trend about reviews," he said.
Akshay is one actor who has hardly been involved in any controversy. "I never get angry. I never understand the fact why fight or get into controversy or why pass a comment. Like when I see a film and even if I don't like it I say it was a good film. I think it is not right on my part to say anything on anyone's work," he added.

Ravi Pujari, said to be hiding in Australia
The police recently stepped up the security of actor Shah Rukh Khan, after the gangster Ravi Pujari tried to get in touch with the actor. Pujari, who has in the past tried to extort money from various Bollywood personalities, reportedly made the call on 25 August. The call was answered by someone at the actor’s office, since Khan was unavailable.
A few days prior to the call, the gangster’s henchmen reportedly targeted Khan’s friend and business partner, Karim Morani. Morani is a film producer who recently produced Chennai Express and is also involved in the 2G scam case. As the CCTV cameras from the area revealed, late on Saturday night, three men astride a motor- cycle, fired three rounds of bullets at the Morani family’s four-storey bungalow in Mumbai’s Juhu suburb. No one was, however, injured. Morani reportedly received an SMS from the gangster threatening dire consequences.
According to media reports, Pujari, who is believed to be based in Australia, has been threatening the Morani family for several months. The gangster has apparently been demanding the overseas rights of an upcoming Shah Rukh Khan-starrer. This film appears to be the Farah Khan-directed Happy New Year. The gangster reportedly spoke with Morani and personnel in his office on separate occasions, but they told Pujari that they did not have the film’s overseas rights.
The police suspect that the gangster was trying to reach Khan to threaten him. Policemen have now been deployed outside the actor’s house, just in case an attack is attempted. Pujari is also reported to have made threat calls to Nusli Wadia, Salman Khan and Farhan Akhtar earlier this year. Boney Kapoor also received calls from him last year.

Arjun Rampal finds peace in Langkawi

How Bollywood celebrities reacted to AlB's spoof video on Alia Bhatt

  • alia-bhatt
Rarely do we see any Bollywood actor take digs at himself or herself and still laugh about it! Alia Bhatt has turned out to be one such star. Defying old stereotypical Bollywood norms, our new-age star Alia Bhatt who was ridiculously trolled on social network post her infamous blooper on 'Koffee with Karan'.
Although the girl certainly has the GQ to become a superstar in the near future, she certainly proved that she lagged miserably on the GK part. What followed was a series of jokes and memes that made Alia the new laughing stock.
But in an unexpected maneuver, Alia decided to silence all her critics by shooting an entertaining video which definitely puts her critics on the back foot. The girl can definitely laugh at herself and by doing so, she has definitely proved that she's anything but stupid.
Not just us, it seems the entire Bollywood rooster has been showering praises on our lovely 'Highway' star who has definitely been crowned the 'Genius Of The Year' by now.
Let's take a look at what the Bollywood stars have to say about Alia's boisterous move.

'Mardaani' picks up on good word of mouth, netts around Rs 23 crore in first six days

  • mardaani-poster
Rani Mukerji's 'Mardaani' might have had a slow start, given its strong content and low commercial value, but the positive responses to the film has helped it garner decent response at the box office.
The film, that deals with the dark alleys of women trafficking in India, is a compelling and a hard hitting tale on reality. The film did not have any heavyweight star other than a Rani Mukerji but it has simply worked on the basis of its merit.
Holding well on the weekdays, collecting in the range of Rs 2-3 crore each day, the film has already netted around Rs 23 crore in the first six days. The film which is made on a budget of Rs 14 crore has already recovered its production cost. Hence, it will be a total win-win situation from here onwards.
The film being exempted from entertainment tax in many regions too, has helped boost its returns.

HC seeks to know steps taken by Government to tackle 'Ebola' virus

Mumbai: Expressing concern over a large number of Indians returning home after suspecting to have contracted Ebola virus in African countries, the Bombay High Court today asked the Centre and Maharashtra government to file a reply on September 2 stating what steps had been taken by them to prevent the spread of this deadly virus.

The direction was given by a bench of Justices Abhay Oka and G S Kulkarni which asked both the governments to inform whether India was fully equipped to treat the people who had contracted ‘Ebola’ virus.

The court also sought to know what measures had been taken so far to prevent the spread of the virus which was considered a life-threatening disease.

The Judges observed this was a serious matter and the government must ensure that enough steps were taken to ensure that ‘Ebola’ virus does not spread in India.

Senior Counsel, Rui Rodrigues, who appeared on behalf of the Union Health Ministry, said the government was fully prepared to tackle the situation and would take adequate steps in this regard. However, he sought time to seek instructions in this regard.

The PIL, filed by activist Ketan Tirodkar, also sought a direction to the Union Home Ministry to issue a notice to the Mumbai international airport to prevent passengers arriving from West African countries from alighting from the aircraft.

The petitioner pleaded that India was not equipped to prevent the spread of the virus. He said 112 passengers had recently arrived in Mumbai from Liberia and were  quarantined.

The PIL pleaded that USA and South Asia had banned alighting of passengers from West African nations into their territories and India was lagging behind in this regard.

“India should ban the entry of any person travelling from West African countries. Such persons may come via Gulf countries or South East Asian countries,” the PIL argued.

Tirodkar urged for direction to the union government to provide protective equipments as set out by World Health Organisation to the Central Industrial Security Force which secures the airport and also to doctors and nurses at the government hospitals.
