Shah Rukh Khan on Kolkata Controversy: It's Not About the Uniform but About a 'Lady in Uniform'

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who was seen dancing with a woman police officer in Kolkata on Monday, said it was not about the uniform but about a lady in a uniform and such distinctions between men and women were "silly". "It's strange. Four-five years back, I was shooting for Veer Zaara. At that time, I danced with jawans in uniform. In the '60s and '70s, many actors performed on the border for the jawans to encourage them. For the first time, it's not about the uniform, it's about a lady inspector in uniform. This distinction between men and women is rubbish and silly. It should not be even talked about," Mr Khan said at an event.

Politicians criticised Sub-Inspector Sampa Haldar who had danced with the actor at an event in Kolkata. Ms Haldar danced to a popular number from SRK's Jab Tak Hai Jaan as a host of top police officers and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee watched from the gallery at Kolkata Police's annual cultural programme (Jai Ho) at the Netaji Indoor Stadium.

Ebola: Kolkata Port Trust vigilant about ships from west Africa

The Kolkata Port Trust is exercising caution against ships originating from Ebola-affected countries of West Africa.
“An alert against the Ebola virus by the Union Health ministry has been received. We are vigilant on the issue,” port health officer M K Bag said on Tuesday.
He said that the Kopt was vigilant about ships arriving at the Haldia Dock or the Kolkata Dock complex from the affected countries.
“We will exercise caution on ships originating from the affected countries of West Africa. But there has been no ships from this zone till now,” he said.
Those arriving at the docks would be asked whether they visited an Ebola affected country, whether they were suffering from its symptoms or came in contact with the family of an affected person.
Port officials said in case of a crew member suffering from the disease there was sufficient time for quarantine as the number of ships from such countries was low and it took 21 days to arrive.
The government has issued such alerts at all airports and ports of the country.

OMG! Deepika Padukone On Arjun Kapoor’s Lap

Bollywood’s leggy lass Deepika Padukone and pulsating heartthrob Arjun Kapoor were present at the song launch of their upcoming movie Finding Fanny here in Mumbai. We spotted Deepika Padukone very comfortably sitting on her co-star Arjun’s lap and enjoying the song being played out on the big screen.
Well what made it even worse was Arjun’s reaction to this, as he left squirming the entire event. Was that because Deepika din’t find any proper seat at the multiplex for her or she just did that whole out of a purpose, or any guesses?
We also saw Deepika Padukone and Arjun Kapoor getting involved too much into each other from the start of the event and they also took some selfies together.
For the song launch, Deepika came dressed in a pretty floral strapless gown, similar to her character Angie in the film, Arjun opted for black tee, checkered jacket teamed up with denims. The director has no reason to complain with his leading pair making headlines for their chemistry on and off screen.
Finding Fanny tells the story of five oddballs looking for the childhood love of the character played by Naseeruddin Shah. The film is directed by Homi Adajania and produced by Dinesh Vijan. The film along with Deepika Padukone and Arjun Kapoor also stars Pankaj Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia and Naseeruddin Shah. The film is all set to hit theatres on September 21.

Five more of his extended family are in hospital after the attack in Khan Younis.
Civil engineer Musheir, who has lived in Sheffield 25 years, said: “Initially nine of them died and others died later in hospital. Five of them were children.
“People in the neighbourhood came out to carry the dead, and they were injured and killed between the second and third missiles.
“These people have the most sophisticated weapons with the most sophisticated viewing equipment.
"Why did they do that? These are innocent people trying to go about their own lives.
“I was born in Khan Younis and have more family there. It’s very worrying. People are afraid to even leave their homes.”
