Mumbai Shocker: Shahrukh Khan gets kicked over his Mannat, faces protest

Mumbai, Aug 20: Shahrukh Khan once again landed in a controversy and this time the Bollywood superstar faced protest over his bungalow 'Mannat'. Chief of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Tuesday, Aug 29 asked his team to "initiate action" against one ramp which has been built outside Mannat. According to sources, many people from different resident organisations held a protest march outside Shahrukh's Bandstand bungalow on Aug 15. The protesters raised demand to demolish the controversial ramp which barred people to enter a church. The residential organisation filed several complaints against the ramp to BMC officials. However, no action has been taken so far. Later, protesters received information through Right to Information (RTI) act that civic ward office "did not have the cadastral survey number of Mannat and hence could not initiate action." The authorities are shying away from taking action against Shah Rukh Demanding to demolish the ramp, which is used to park Shahrukh's vanity van, the agitators were quoted as saying, "The authorities are shying away from taking action against Shah Rukh since he has connections in the right places. Why should we have double standards for illegal constructions - one for Campa Cola and another for an actor?" Residents allege that the controversial ramp stands on public property and blocks access to the stairs that lead to Mount Mary Church from Bandstand. The residents, under the banner of the Watchdog Foundation, first raked up the issue in Sept, 2013, reported Times of India. The daily also quoted assistant municipal commissioner of H-West Ward -- Prashant Sapkale as saying, "I will send my team of engineers to inspect the site and take necessary action. We will have to see if permissions have been granted to construct any structure or ramp on the spot." While contacting Shahrukh's office, no one responded to the queries regarding the protest and controversies. Now, it seems that the Badshah Khan, who is currently busy with his upcoming movie Happy New Year, may spend a unhappy year ahead.
