Assault case: Saif Ali Khan appears before Mumbai court

Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan today appeared before a metropolitan magistrate's court here in connection with the case related to an assault, after the prosecution last time sought bailable warrant against him for remaining absent frequently. 

The hearing was today adjourned to the next week. 

"On the next date of hearing copy of CCTV footage (of the alleged incident) will be given to Khan and other accused," said prosecutor Wajid Sheikh. 

Saif Ali Khan and his friends Bilal Amrohi and Shakkel Ladak were arrested after Iqbal Mir Sharma, an NRI businessman, complained to the police that they assaulted him inside Taj Hotel here on February 22, 2012. All three were later released on bail. 

The court has framed charges under section 325 (assault) of the Indian Penal Code against them. 

Saif was accompanied by his wife and actor Kareena Kapoor, Karishma Kapoor, Malaika Arora Khan, Amrita Arora and some male friends at the time of the incident.

According to police, when Sharma protested the raucous chatter of the group, Saif threatened them and subsequently punched Sharma on the nose, fracturing it. They also allegedly hit Sharma's father-in-law Raman Patel. 

According to Saif it was Sharma who made provocative statements and used abusive language against the women accompanying him, which led to the ruckus.

Vivaan Shah to play a gangster in Mastan

Naseeruddin Shah's son Vivaan Shah debuted in Bollywood with Vishal Bhardwaj's 7 Khoon Maaf and now, the actor is all set for the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Happy New Year which is slated to release in October. While in this film Vivaan plays the role of a hacker, in his next titled Mastan, he will be seen playing the role of a gangster.

Vivaan who is often in the limelight for his chocolate boy looks revealed that his character is called Master Bachcha Khan in the film. Though his looks are child-like, they are deceptive. Underneath this kid lies a tough and dangerous gangster. We hear that Vivaan gets involved in the world of crime since his college days. Not just that, the film will also have Vivaan's father Naseeruddin Shah playing the role of a don along with Monica Dogra playing the female lead. 

Mastan will be shot extensively in Mumbai and Dubai and the film will be directed by debutant Rocky Khanna and produced by Sunil Bohra. 

Vivaan Shah is also playing a major role in Anurag Kashyap's magnum opus Bombay Velvet which stars Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma.

Mumbai: Megastar Amitabh Bachchan wished singer Mika Singh for his acting debut in ‘Balwinder Singh Famous Ho Gaya’ and said the ‘Pungi’ hitmaker is capable of becoming his competition in the film industry.  
The 71-year-old actor unveiled the music of the film, which also stars another Bollywood playback singer Shaan and shared his fondness for Mika.
“In our family everybody loves Mika’s singing style and today I am here on this special occasion on his invite only,” Bachchan said.
“So far I have only heard him in songs but now he is my competitor as he has started acting,” Bachchan added.
Mika was also all praise for Big B and referred to him as the temple of the Hindi film industry.

Farhan Akhtar to make his Marathi debut with Por Bazaar

This multi-faceted celebrity is now all set to enter the regional cinema space too. Following with the recent trend where Bollywood celebrities are investing their time and money in Marathi cinema, Farhan Akhtar too will be making his Marathi debut as an actor with Por Bazaar.

Produced by Nanubhai Jaisinghani, Farhan Akhtar will be seen in a cameo in this film which revolves around child trafficking. Jaisinghani confirmed Farhan's presence in the film and even revealed that the actor took time out from his busy schedule and shot for a day at Mehboob Studio in suburban Mumbai. Though it is just a guest appearance, Jaisinghani revealed that Farhan Akhtar's entry in the film is towards its climax but will have a powerful message attached to it. However, the producer refused to give any more details about the actor's character in the film. Impressed with Farhan's language skills, Nanubhai further added that he spoke his dialogues in chaste Marathi and appreciated his hard work. 

Por Bazaar also marks the directorial debut of popular Marathi actress Manava Naik and recently at the launch of the film, the actress also revealed that they have roped in a popular Bollywood actor to do a special appearance in the film but did not divulge the name then. 

Por Bazaar will see the debut of Bollywood-Marathi actor Mahesh Manjrekar's son Satya and actors Atul Parchure's daughter Sakheel, Manoj Joshi's son Dharmaj along with popular Marathi actors Sai Tamhankar and Ankush Chaudhari. Por Bazaar is slated to release on September 19.
