Shruti Haasan flaunts bridal look on Harper's Bazaar cover
New Delhi, April 29 : Actress Shruti Haasan has put her fashionable foot forward as the cover girl of the May issue of fashion magazine Harper's Bazaar Bride.
There are multiple shots of the actress, who has made a unique style statement with the traditional sari, but with a contemporary twist to the look.
She has worn a Rahul Mishra ensemble for the cover photograph, shot by Rid Burman and styled by Mohit Rai.
"The choice to put Shruti on our cover was due to her rise in the south as a mega star and we wanted to celebrate the South Indian bridal fashion. She is very versatile, which we have even tried to convey through our cover," magazine editor Nupur Mehta Puri said in a statement.
Daughter of actors Kamal Haasan and Sarika, Shruti was recently seen in Telugu film "Race Gurram".

Preview: Kolkata Knight Riders look for turnaround against Rajasthan Royals
Hit hard by the woeful form of its captain Gautam Gambhir, Kolkata Knight Riders would look for a turnaround in their fortunes when they take on Rajasthan Royals in an Indian Premier League match here on Tuesday.
Kolkata is struggling in their batting department with Gambhir having been dismissed for a duck thrice in the four matches he has led the team so far. He scored just one in Kolkata's last match against leaders Kings XI Punjab, which his side lost by 23 runs.
The 2012 edition champions have one of the strongest batting line-ups among the eight IPL teams but none of their batsmen, except Jacques Kallis and Manish Pandey, have been consistent so far. Their batting problem was compounded by the disappointing form of big hitter Yusuf Pathan, who has scored just 17 in the four outings till now. (Read full preview here)
Indian Premier League 7 turns into a horror story for Gautam Gambhir
If there was a cap for the lowest individual score in the Indian Premier League, most bets would have been on Kolkata Knight Riders' skipper Gautam Gambhir 'winning' it. After four matches, Gambhir has just one run to show for his 'efforts' leaving many to question his credibility to lead the 2012 champions.
Gambhir has appeared edgy right from the start. Opening the innings for his team, Gambhir registered a hat-trick of ducks in the ongoing season. Against Kings XI Punjab on Saturday, he dropped to the No. 3 position but could only score one run! According to Punjab's Mitchell Johnson, bowlers now know exactly how to trouble the 32-year-old. "I have played a fair bit against him and I've always enjoyed bowling to him. If you get the ball to move away from him just a little bit, you're in the game," he was quoted as saying in an interview on the official IPL website. (Read full story here)
Wasim Akram believes Kolkata Knight Riders can make final four of IPL 7
Encouraged by the presence of many "team players", Kolkata Knight Riders bowling coach Wasim Akram has expressed confidence that his side will make it to the final four in the Indian Premier League as they have a "good enough" bowling attack.
"We just went for the players we thought are team players and obviously individual match winners, Yusuf is there, Shakib-al-Hasan, Robin Uthappa, Andre Russell. All these guys are team people and a team sport needs players who support each other when things are bad," Akram said in an interview.
"There will be a rough time. You'll lose couple of games on the trot, which will happen, it's a long tournament. But, it was decision made by the management, we want boys who could actually be good team players apart from being individual match winners," the former Pakistani skipper said on whether KKR had consciously stayed away from star players this time. Singer Babul Supriyo to play a different tune
By Biswamoy Mukherjee Asansol (West Bengal), Apr 29 : From singing to politics and from Mumbai's studio recording room to the dusty roads of Asansol--it's a long journey that singer Babul Supriyo has undertaken since he decided to contest the Lok Sabha elections from this constituency as one of the star candidates of the BJP.
He is pitted against CPI (M) heavyweight and sitting MP Bangsagopal Choudhury and INTTUC state president Dola Sen of Trinamool Congress from Asansol Parliamentary constituency in West Bengal.
'I didn't tell the party that I wish to contest from Asansol but when I found the name in the list, I selected it. Even those in the industry suggested that I contest the elections from there.
I think it is an interesting place. I have been there and it is not alien to me,' the 'Dil Ne Dil Ko Pukara' singer says.
The 46-year-old, who started his career as a banker before becoming a playback singer, was all praise for the party's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, saying that the country needs an able leader like him.
'It is Mr Modi, whom the country needs,' Supriyo told reporters.
However, he termed BJP stalwart Atal Behari Vajpayee as the best prime minister that the country had in the last two decades. 'I have always loved Vajpayeeji. In modern era he was the best PM we had,' he says.
The singer was recently embroiled in successive controversies during electioneering as the Trinamool Congress made various complaints against him.
He surrendered before a local court and obtained bail in connection with a criminal case for blockade of National Highway 60 allegedly by him along with party workers on April 12.
Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Aniruddha Maity granted him bail for 14 days till May 5.
The playback singer had already been booked for six other cases, including one under the Arms Act, for allegedly intimidating AITC workers brandishing fire arms the same day--all of which he denied.
After he was granted bail, Supriyo told reporters that he had been implicated in false cases and demanded CBI enquiry into the cases.
